The holiday season is here, and what is supposed to be the happiest time of year can also be the most stressful. Our schedules get filled with events, we have endless amounts of shopping and cooking to do, and the weather here in the Pacific Northwest can get nasty. The holiday season can be especially difficult if we are missing our loved ones, whether they may live far away or they have passed on. It is no wonder that life can feel extra stressful from now through the New Year.

moreTips for Combating Desk Pain – Part 2

While many of us can’t avoid spending working or studying hours at a desk, we can do things to minimize our discomfort and to ease aches and pains associated with sitting at a desk. Last month we talked about neck, shoulder, and upper back pain. Be sure to check out that post if you missed it. Today’s focus is on low back and forearm pain and what you can do to get rid of it, tips to prevent it, and how massage therapy can help.

When you come in for a massage, let’s chat about how you spend your day: working, sleep positions, activities, sports, childcare, etc. We can pinpoint how you are using your body and how that might contribute to any aches and pains you have. I will target your massage to reduce any pain or discomfort you may have, and we can put together a simple but effective treatment plan to get you feeling great.

moreTIPS FOR COMBATING “DESK PAIN” -PART 1

In today’s modern world, many of us sit at a desk for hours a day. Often, our job environment is centered on work we do at a computer. Students sit for hours a day in class, studying at the library, and writing on a laptop. Just as doing repetitive motions in an active job or sport can cause aches and pains, clocking a lot of hours at a desk can do the same. You may be thinking……”well, Jenn, I can’t quit my job…I’ve got to get all this work done…what can I do?” I’ve put together a list of some of the common “desk pains” and solutions on how to ease the pain. Often, stretches that balance overworked muscles and postural adjustments can go a long way.

JENNIFER GRANT & WEST HILLS MASSAGE

Top Massage Therapist and #1 Sports Massage Therapist in Portland, Or. Reflextologist Servicing 97225. Call Today @ (971) 336-6028

I became a massage therapist in 2012 to help others feel their best and reconnect with their bodies. I believe massage therapy is a powerful tool to assist in relief of pain, stress, and to boost mental health and immunity.I specialize in myofascial release, deep tissue, and trigger point therapy. I have found this combination of techniques to be the most effective and long lasting. I also use gua sha and cupping in my practice when needed to help break up scar tissue and fascia, and to increase circulation.I have worked on many painful conditions such as whiplash, migraines, frozen shoulder, plantar fasciitis, low back pain, and both tennis and golfers elbows with great success. I specialize in treating chronic pain conditions, athletes, and those recovering from an accident or injury. I am a certified pre-natal massage therapist and can help alleviate some of the pregnancy “growing pains.” Please let me know how I can help!I also specialize in on-site chair massage for your office or event. Chair massage is a great way to help with stress reduction in the workplace or to celebrate a special occasion. For on-site chair massage, please e-mail or give me a call to discuss scheduling.
